First impressions.
Visual. Japanese teenager with curly brown hair and green eyes. He's thin but muscled and, depending on his expression, can look a little older or younger than his actual age.
Fashion. He's either in uniform or questionable casual wear — there's no middle ground. His fashion sense leans towards bright and loose. Oh, and includes awful sunglasses.
Demeanor. He's been a soldier for years and it shows in his posture. Otherwise, his demeanor varies based on canon point and who he is interacting with. In most cases, he'll default to polite or outwardly cheerful.
Aural. Voiced by Yuri Lowenthal and Takahiro Sakurai. Similar to demeanor, his voice changes fairly significantly based on the situation, ranging from boyish to cold.

About.

tldr Knight/mecha pilot from a very... special version of earth. He's a sad failure/subversion of a certain type of mecha hero, since he's a disaster noodle with a death wish whose semi-selfish well-intentions usually end in tragedy and war crimes. Yay!

non-tldr On the surface, Suzaku is capable of appearing as the perfect knight: compassionate, dedicated, and noble. At his best, he gives off the impression of a friendly, if occasionally clueless, teenager. Polite, hard to rile, and often smiling. Even at his worst, he tries to be polite, albeit distant, and rarely pushes back when disdain or hatred is thrown towards him.

The reality is far more complicated.

In truth, Suzaku killed his father when he was ten years old, an impulsive and violent act done to stop a senseless war and save his two best (and only) friends. This crime and the subsequent lack of consequences left him with self-loathing, a death wish, and a furious rejection of the idea that the ends justify the means. This led to him serving as a soldier for the very empire that conquered and oppressed his homeland, believing that changing the system from within was the only correct option.

This contradictory and seemingly naïve choice is shaken and ultimately broken as the series progresses, and as Suzaku himself commits increasingly awful acts in the pursuit of his goals. What's left at the end is the same commitment to justice he's always had and the desire to atone by helping to create a peaceful world.
